MTO insurance

I'm looking to purchase a Calidus or MTO and I priced insurance and WOW!!!
What do some of you do about this cost? Do you have it or do you just fly?

I got a quote of $1600 per year for liability only. The airport where I'm based REQUIRES it to have the aircraft in their hangars. Sucks. I'm about as much of a threat to their aircraft as a field mouse.
